Purpose of the library
This library explains industrial surfaces, residues, equipment-cleaning issues and production controls that can affect cleaning work. It provides general technical information, not a site-specific risk assessment, method statement or instruction for carrying out hazardous work.
How entries are prepared
AI assists with drafting and editing this library. The resulting text is checked against the HSE, GOV.UK and manufacturer sources linked to each entry. Automated checks may also be used for page structure, identifiers and links. AI assistance does not replace source checking and is not independent technical approval.
We do not invent qualifications, site visits, case studies, test results, equipment ownership or specialist endorsements. A technical contributor is named only when their identity, relevant expertise and review of the actual entry have been established.
Sources and technical limits
Each source is used only for the points it supports. HSE and GOV.UK guidance is used only for the safety, hygiene or regulatory points and geographic scope stated by the source. Manufacturer information applies to the named product or flooring system and is not treated as universal guidance for every installation.
Naming a floor family, food residue, dust type or metalworking-fluid system does not establish cleaning-product compatibility, the condition of an installed surface or the hazards at a particular site. Those points depend on the actual material, process and operating controls.
Guide pages and reference entries
Guide pages explain the main considerations for a distinct cleaning problem and the limits of the available information. Short reference entries describe a named surface, residue, equipment type or cleaning condition and link to the source used for that point. They do not show that a particular installation has been inspected or approved.
Corrections and updates
Factual corrections are checked against the relevant entry and supporting source before the text is changed. A substantive update should also prompt a fresh check of the sources used for the affected point.
Unknown dusts, damaged coatings, machinery isolation, work at height, food-hygiene controls and combustible-dust risks may need competent site-specific assessment. Immediate hazards should be managed under the site’s established emergency arrangements.
