Production Line Cleaning enquiry

Production line cleaning removes residue from the points where a product is fed, transferred and discharged. We clean the agreed equipment surfaces and surrounding areas before the next run or maintenance inspection. The required checks depend on the reason for cleaning: a line changing allergens needs different checks from a conveyor being cleared of packaging debris.

Transfer points and guarded areas

Belt returns, transfer chutes and the undersides of guarding can retain material after the visible working surface has been wiped.

Isolation and hygiene controls

Unexpected movement, stored energy and hygiene-zone separation are addressed before hazardous parts are cleaned.

Transfer points and guarded areas

Belt returns, transfer chutes and the undersides of guarding can retain material after the visible working surface has been wiped. We follow the product route and identify parts that need opening by maintenance. Seals, sensors and lubricated components have different tolerances for water or chemicals, so manufacturer guidance is checked before the cleaning method is selected.

Isolation and hygiene controls

The line is isolated against unexpected movement and stored energy before anyone reaches hazardous parts. Maintenance controls removal and replacement of guards. Adjacent production is protected from the released residue, and cleaning tools remain within the hygiene zone for which they are intended.

Checks before the line returns to use

The site quality or production team sets the acceptance checks. We inspect for remaining deposits and identify inaccessible parts. Any required hygiene testing and maintenance checks follow before the line is released.

Cleaning does not include calibration or changes to machine settings. Those remain part of the site’s maintenance and production controls.

Production Line Cleaning: common questions

Can the conveyor run during cleaning?

Cleaning near moving parts needs an assessed method and isolation; a running conveyor must not be assumed safe.

Does line cleaning include calibration?

Calibration is separate maintenance work and is included only by express agreement.

Are food-contact areas treated differently?

Yes. Food-contact parts follow the site hygiene procedure and its acceptance checks.

Can cleaning remove allergens?

The method and verification must address the specific allergen; appearance alone cannot demonstrate removal.

Who is responsible for guards and machine covers?

Guard removal, reinstatement and restart checks remain under the site’s maintenance controls.
